Pair of Swedish Art Deco Functionalist Side Chairs Sweden c. 1930's Pair of antique Swedish Art Deco/Functionalist Era Side Chairs. This simple Deco style is sometimes also referred to as the beginning of "Functionalist" era in Swedish furniture which expressed design through beautiful materials and practical applications. Lines were strong and plain and rich materials formed a new aesthetic that placed value on good, functional design without the excess of ornamentation. Beautifully crafted of gorgeous golden flame birch accented with ebonized accents at the bottom of the legs, these chairs are both handsome and functional. Newly upholstered seats and backs are covered in a stunning black wool crepe and finished with individually hand-placed nickel finish nail heads.
